Lessons

Welcome to Art Class 1.

Hello and welcome to my class! The idea of an art class has been in my heart for as long as I can remember. When I sat down to design the class, so many ideas came forth that I filled a notebook with sketches and plans. And after many months of working, I feel really blessed to bring you this workshop.

Chapter 1: Stencils

Length: 22 minutes

A stencil is a template made by cutting a design into paper, plastic, cardboard, or metal, a method of applying a design by brushing ink or paint through the cut out areas of a template so that the pattern will be reproduced on the surface placed below

Chapter 2: Mod Podge

Length: 18 minutes

Modge Podge is so versatile. It’s an all-in-one glue, sealer and finish. Also, Modge podge is water based and non-toxic. The fact that it’s water based, means you can mix it with acrylic or watercolors and even glitter…

Chapter 3: Fabric

Length: 20 minutes

Fabric to me is soft patterned paper. 🙂 I have fallen in love with fabric pieces and are so many times looking at how to include them on a scrapbook layout. If you have a special piece of fabric that you’ve been saving for sometime, I hope this chapter inspires you to take it out and play with it.

Chapter 4: Wax

Length: 24 minutes

I am using two different types of wax in this chapter. Some Crayola crayons and Encaustic wax. Wax creates some fascinating textures and also it’s so much fun to work with this medium.

Chapter 5: Stitching

Length: 18 minutes

Stitching and scrapbooking are becoming more synonym. In this chapter I am exploring different ways to use stitching as a deign element.

Chapter 6: Found Items

Length: 24 minutes

Simply put: Because we are scrapbookers. We find things and keep things and if you are like me you probably have a box or two with some keepsakes. And in this chapter you will find ways to include them on your pages.

Chapter 7: Pens and Paint

Length: 50 minutes

What will this hobby be without pens and paint? And even though our canvasses are only 12×12 or 8.5×11, we are all artists that use these magic wands to fill our life with happiness. In this chapter we will just be playing. And having fun.

Chapter 8: Masking Fluid

Length: 27 minutes

Masking fluid is a liquid used to block out areas of a watercolor while you paint, thereby retaining the white of the paper or the previous color that was painted. It’s a solution of latex in ammonia and is removed by gently rubbing it off either with your fingers or an eraser, once the painting is dry.

Chapter 9: Glitter and Washi

Length: 22 minutes

OH glitter… OH washi… Looking at a few new ways to work washi tape and glitter into your layouts. Super simple, but so. much. fun.

Chapter 10: Molding Paste

Length: 15 minutes

Molding Paste is often used to build texture and depth before subsequent application of additional colors. You can also mixed it with paint to color it. It’s a great way to add texture to a scrapbook page and works great with stencils… as you will see.
